Fly into Marsh Harbor from any US airport and load up at the Abaco Beach Resort, an expansive resort and marina. After settling into your chartered yacht, enjoy your lunch on board as you sail south into Little Harbour, a great spot with sandy beaches and lush greenery. The harbour has inspired the famous bronze sculptor Randolph Johnston who has built a bronze art foundry here. Pete’s Pub, a little Tiki bar on the beach here serves refreshing Caribbean cocktails and fresh local seafood. Spend the night in perfect tranquility here, watching the stars as you can only in the Abacos.
After your breakfast in Little Harbour, sail north to the 8.5 square kilometer natural reserve of Pelican Cay Land and Sea Park. Spend the day enjoying swimming and snorkeling in the clear waters, exploring the underwater caves and coral reefs filled with amazing marine life. You can enjoy your lunch on the beach on one of the many uninhabited islets located in the park. A short sail from here will take you to Elbow Cay where you will find the famous striped lighthouse, one of the few remaining manually operated lighthouses in the world. You can anchor or find a berth in the main harbour or in White Sound. Hope town offers great restaurants, shops and art galleries.
On day 3, discover Hope Town and Elbow Cay by golf cart, which is the most common way to do it. Thesouthern part of the island offers great beaches, surfing and a large selection of bars and restaurants such as Lubber’s Quarters and Cracker Pea’s. You may of course remain on your yacht or the beach and enjoy the peace and quiet.
A short distance from Elbow Cay, you will find Man-O-War Cay, which is home to a historical shipyard. On the waterfront, you can visit Joe’s studio and admire the handcrafted man-o-war models, as well as Sally’s Seaside Boutique for some shopping. Then it’s time to weigh anchor and head towards Guana Cay. Stop at the Fowl Cays for snorkeling and conching as well as some surfing on the reef breaks. There is a great marina within Bakers Bay Resort as well as a world class golf course. Enjoy the sunset at Nipper’s Beach Bar & grill with great views and tasty cocktails.
Leave Guana Cay for Green Turtle Cay, stopping off No Name Cay for some excellent snorkeling. The Green Turtle Club in White Sound has an extraordinary marina to take a slip if you like, or you may choose to anchor in one of the decent spots near the historical settlement of New Plymouth. There is a quaint little museum and historical gardens to explore on foot. Famous among sailors is Miss Emily’s Blue Bee Bar, where you can enjoy one of her Goombay Smash cocktails. Pineapples and The Bluff House are other spots for drinking and dining.
Manjack Cay offers two secure moorings, depending on wind direction. The North side has one of the best sunset vistas over the clear waters. The vicinity of Rat Cay on the south end is also a wonderful spot where you can enjoy paddle boarding, kayaking and other water sports.
